I believe the notion that the US will default on its debt is insane. How did it come to this?

So Obama signs and the debt bill becomes law. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief and life carries on as before - but for how long? There's only so much road you can kick the can down and America is getting close to the end of it. What then?

The United States is really composed of a bunch of small countries. It is really cool to see how there are different rules in each state and how each of them keep order. I am surprised that there isn't more arguing between states but I think someday there will be. There is too much pride in each one for bad things not to happen some day. It might not be a bad idea to just have one law for all states instead of them being able to create their own. Thoughts?

The national deficit has made the US the joke for the rest of the world. We collect a lot in taxes, there is no reason for us not to have enough bucks to pay our bills. Here is a great rule of thumb to follow. If you don't have the money, don't spend the money. There is no reason that our kids should be inheriting the poor choices of our congress. Figure out a deal and let's get back on the winning track!

Do you blame other countries for hating the US? We can't even work together to improve our own land and imagine what we do to other places. Our congress does nil to make the right decisions, it's all about business. It's embarrasing that our Government works against us instead of for us.

China is protesting because the Dalai Lama is being met soon by President Obama. The Chinese don't want any recognition of Tibet. Why not? Because the Tibetan plateau, if you look, controls a great deal of China's water supply. Some big old rivers start up there and run from there down into China, irrigating a lot of it. If the Tibetans shut off those rivers, China would have big trouble on its hands. President Obama, no doubt, is well aware of this. Soon, he's meeting the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader. Coincidence, of course :-)
